The Pride in London Official Women's Party offers a selection of DJs fairly unknown on the main lesbian circuit in London. Along with the stunning venue, there is an opportunity to experience something different from your standard LBQ night out in London.
We find out a bit more about what you can expect from the DJs on the night...
Headlining: Bae2Bae duo
All the way from Sweden and Norway, they describe themselves as…'Hot party bangers with that infectious 90s beat' that’s how BAE2BAE describes their DJ-duo, containing Charlotte and Oona. Their musical selections are their own therapy, with vibrant, colourful heavy beats and energetic, contagious floor fillers that are easy to sing along to. Very active members of the LGBT+ community, BAE2BAE are no strangers to the ups-and- downs of being a minority on a patriarchal music scene. While they started to DJ together not too long ago, live music, singing and playing instruments has always been a big part of their lives.
‘For us, it’s all about creating a hot, contagious party atmosphere, playing those tracks that get you singing along, regardless of genre, tempo, style, or release date.
‘Another great addition to our line-up, previous Brighton DJ Resident, Rocket – a female Trap, Hip Hop and RnB DJ. Rocket has played at Brighton Pride, Rbar Brighton and local London bars. Influenced by the great sounds of Diplo, Keys n Krates, Tropkillaz, Stooki sound and Hucci, all cleverly mixed with the likes of Ginuwine, Missy Elliot, Usher, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Drake and more’
DJ Sami Kubu
Originally hailing from Durban, South Africa now is a Brighton based Producer/DJ and owner of Nightshift Records. Her sets are well known for combining deep and percussive underground house with dark, rolling techno.
In the studio, Sami approaches her productions in a way that is refreshing. Coming from a songwriter background she adopts this way of writing paired with her South African roots to create sounds that have a strong groove and an emotive soundscape.
The last few years has seen her support the likes of Matthias Tazmann, Josh Butler, Sidney Charles, Darius Syrossian, Sante, Visionquest, Richy Ahmed and playing for Brighton Pride at their Woman’s Dance Tent and after parties.
