Venue: Bar Titania, Charing Cross Road
Date: Thursday 16 January (and beyond...)
Just four days after the close of Soho's iconic lesbian/bi women's venue, Bar Titania stakes it's claim as the new girl in town.
With ground floor access and street + mezzanine level floors - and no basement! - Titania has a lot to offer the lovely les and bi women of London - on Thursdays to Sundays at least, when the women's bar policy operates.
The launch saw plenty of women come along and take advantage of a buffet (free for the launch only, although there is a daily menu of freshly made sandwiches and on Sundays, roast dinner), the brand new pool table, excellent Happy Hour Drinks deals, and some talented entertainment. Host and manager KC Gates, gave a warm friendly welcome to all who arrived, and made sure no one was left by themselves, making introductions.
Singer Andrea Gorse created a vibrant mood with two roaming sets full of rat pack and modern numbers, whetting the appetite for headline PA Miri Hersh, set to be the next big thing with her husky, sultry, sexy set. Cheesy tunes played through the decks for the rest of the night maintaining a cheerful vibe.
There is even a mixologist available to create a top notch cocktail from a suggested 4 ingredients in a Ready, Steady, Cook style challenge. We started the ball rolling creating "cherry planets" and "milky planets".
On busy nights the pool table will turn into a bottle bar, and roaming bar staff will mix cocktails and shooters on the fly. Plus, more cosy sofas are due to arrive in the week.
Friday night was "Coyote Ugly" theme which gave punters a taste of the antics they can expect, party music, dancers, wild times!
