Alicya and Rebecca, a couple from South East London, decided to host an event during Stonewall Season.
They described it as "for lesbians of all descriptions that can't be arsed to put a going out outfit on and go into Soho. Come to a super gay friendly pub, bring your dog/kids/wife, eat lunch and be entertained by a lesbian performer, a quiz and a raffle with some fab prizes."
The entry was £5 and all monies went to Stonewall. Held in a lovely pub known for previously hosted the odd lesbian event - and run by two lovely ladies - I knew it was going to be a great experience.
The event was in The Cambria, 40 Kemerton Road, London SE5 9 and was in the upstairs dining room. Upon arrival a few women were already there, and everyone was really friendly. It was nice to see a few different women, and quite a few couples.
The Cambria has an amazing menu and we enjoyed lovely food whilst getting to know the other women on our table. The room was full as the event was so busy we actually overflowed downstairs!
After eating we got to enjoy the entertainment. Amy Brown provided us with a quiz, which resulted in a tie and a final question.
Nex up was Finlay Leslie who had come up from Dover in Kent and provided us with some lovely music with her guitar.
The final entertainment of the afternoon was a raffle. There were lots of amazing prizes including signed books, tattoo sessions, and a voucher for a course at Goldsmiths University.
I have to say this was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The venue was lovely, the food was amazing and really good value. The entertainment was good and I particularly liked that we got to see an artist from outside the usual circuit.
The day was a huge success so we are looking forward to seeing whether they plan any future events. Of course if they do we will let you know!
