Originally hailing from Durban, South Africa now is a Brighton based Producer/DJ and owner of Nightshift Records. Her sets are well known for combining deep and percussive underground house with dark, rolling techno.
In the studio, Sami approaches her productions in a way that is refreshing. Coming from a songwriter background she adopts this way of writing paired with her South African roots to create sounds that have a strong groove and an emotive soundscape.
The last few years has seen her support the likes of Matthias Tazmann, Josh Butler, Sidney Charles, Darius Syrossian, Sante, Visionquest, Richy Ahmed and playing for Brighton Pride at their Woman’s Dance Tent and after parties. As well as seeing her productions supported by Joseph Capriati, Paco Osuna, Sam Divine, John Haden and Agoria to name a few!

1. What was your first DJ event?
A house party back in 2007 was the first time I ever DJ’ed though the set up was fairly basic.

Almost 7 years now
3. How would you describe your DJ style?
Soulful, high energy House & Techno
5. What genres of music do you play?
Techno, House, occasionally mixed up with Breaks.
6. What is your all-time favourite track?
Thats a difficult one!! If I had choose my favourite House track, it would be, Finally by Kings Of Tomorrow. Timeless!
7. What is your guilty pleasure?
Probably a little bit of Vogue by Madonna…Not sure if thats a guilty pleasure or just a great track haha.
8. How and why did you become a DJ?
I was actually a live sound engineer to start with at a small venue just outside London, they needed a DJ on short notice so I stepped in. From then I just played small parties and focused on music production, it wasn’t until moving to Brighton that I started taking it seriously.
9. What has been your best DJ gig so far?
Another toughie… recently I played a Techno night down in Brighton and it went off! The crowd was amazing, and really responded well to every track played!
10. When you're not a DJ what events do you like to go to?
Mostly Techno events down in Brighton, occasionally venture back to London for LWE events or if my friends are playing though I don’t get to just go out as much as I used to due to playing out most of the time.
